Book a session
The sessions

Programmed, not improvised.

Every session is built around your goal, whether that's strength, fitness or getting moving again after years away. I write the session before you arrive; you're not paying me to make it up as we go.

Technique gets coached properly. Effort gets scaled to you. You leave knowing exactly what you did and why.

The studio

A private studio in Whickham.

I train clients at my private garage studio in Whickham, Gateshead, fully kitted for strength and conditioning. If you'd rather use a gym floor, a nearby gym works too.

It's quiet, there's no queue for a rack, and it's just you and me. This is the room, not a stock photo of somewhere else.

You'll find it just off the main road through Whickham, NE16 5TR, with plenty of street parking outside. I'll share the exact address once you've booked.

Who it's for

Most people who train with me are one of three.

  • Someone who hasn't trained in years and doesn't want to start in a busy gym. The weight has crept up, the energy has gone, and walking into a room full of people who look like they know what they're doing is the last thing you fancy. Here it's just you and me.

  • Someone who already trains but knows their technique is holding them back. You've been lifting for a while, you've picked things up from videos, and you've got a nagging feeling you're doing at least one thing wrong. An hour with someone watching properly fixes more than another month on your own.

  • Someone who wants an hour a week where they don't have to think. You're busy, the diary is full, and the decision-making is the bit that costs you. You turn up, I've already written it, you work hard and you go home.

The hour

What actually happens.

You arrive, we talk for a couple of minutes about how the week's been and whether anything hurts. That conversation changes the session more often than you'd think.

Then we warm up properly. Not five minutes on a bike; the specific stuff that gets you ready for what’s coming.

The main work is usually strength, and it's the part where I'm watching closely and correcting as we go. You'll get told what's good as well as what isn't. Then something harder and shorter at the end to finish you off, scaled to whatever you've got left.

We finish on time. You'll know what you did, why you did it and what to work on before I see you again.

In their words
★★★★★
“Stu is amazing. I was pretty nervous about booking a PT and to start doing more strength work but I cannot speak highly enough of him. I have always been in to running but never managed to focus on strength as found it hard and boring. Stu changed all that, he made sessions interesting and catered to my level. So if you are like me and feel nervous about strength and not knowing what to do then book in with Stu and just start giving it a go!”

Questions

Things people ask before booking.

Where exactly is it?

A private garage studio in Whickham, NE16 5TR. I send you the full address as soon as you’ve booked. Plenty of parking right outside on the street.

What if I’ve never lifted a weight before?

Good. That’s the easiest place to start from, because we build the habits properly the first time instead of unpicking bad ones. I’ll teach you the movements slowly and you won’t do anything you’re not ready for.

What if I’m really unfit?

Then we start where you are. I’ve coached people who hadn’t trained in years and people training for ultramarathons, and the session gets built around whoever is in front of me.

Is it just me and you?

Yes. One to one, no queue for a rack, nobody watching.

What actually happens in the first session?

We talk through your goals and anything that hurts, then we train. I write the session before you arrive, so you’re not paying me to make it up as we go.

You’ll leave knowing exactly what you did and why.

What do I need to bring?

Trainers, water and something you can move in. Everything else is here.

Do I have to buy a block of sessions?

No. You book one at a time and you pay when you book. If you want to come every week you just book every week.

What if I need to cancel?

Move or cancel up to 24 hours before and there’s no charge.

Will I be sore afterwards?

Maybe a bit, especially in the first few weeks. However I’d rather you left able to get down the stairs the next morning than wrecked for a week; being destroyed isn’t the same as making progress.

Do you train women?

Yes, I have a fairly even split of female and male clients.

How old do I need to be?

18 years old, or 16 with parental consent. No maximum age!

What if I’ve got an injury or something that flares up?

Tell me before we start and I’ll build around it. If it’s something that needs diagnosing or treating properly I’ll say so and point you to someone who can, rather than guess.

Can I do this alongside online coaching?

Yes, and some people do. The sessions cover technique and intensity in the room; the online programme covers the other six days, the food and the sleep.

What if what I really want is help with food?

Then online coaching is the better fit and I’ll tell you that honestly. Nutrition isn’t part of a PT session; it’s part of the full programme.
